Podcast: Rotary Safe Families

Rotary Safe Families (RSF) was established over three years ago by Dorothy Gilmour, and Past President, of Rotary Melbourne, Mary Barry. Since then it has become a District 9800 project.

I met with Dorothy via Zoom a few days ago and we had a chat about RSF.

RSF’s mission is to ‘Prevent family violence to Women, Men, Children, and our Elders.  We promote Family peace and harmony to save lives and avoid trauma.

Since its inception Rotary Clubs and Districts have joined the Champions’ Program, and are spreading the message of this simple yet powerful concept:

Recognise the signs

Raise your concerns whenever they arise

Refer to the right agency for support

There is no reason why it shouldn’t become as well known as other great Australian campaigns, such as ‘Slip, Slop, Slap’, or ‘If you drink, then drive, you’re a bloody idiot’.

For more information on RSF go to the website, and send an enquiry.

Age is a wonderful thing. The older I get, the better I feel about myself. I’m the same as my younger self, only better. And perhaps most people feel this way about themselves—except, of course, those who are afraid of ageing. Here, I write about travel, reflection, and the small moments that stay with me.
